Credit Risk Manager - Structured Comodity Fin

We are looking to recruit a Credit Risk Manager ? Structured Commodity Finance for our Client, a leading Bank in the City. The main purpose of the role is: ? To review credit applications prepared by the Business Development team prior to Credit Committee final approval to ensure any identified risks are appropriately mitigated. Specific portfolio is structured commodity finance transactions including exchange-traded commodities across the oil & gas, metals, softs and non-exchange traded commodities including ores, tobacco etc. ? To act as an effective second line of defence for the structured commodity finance portfolio. Key Responsibilities: ? Undertake detailed credit review and analysis of the credit applications for structured commodity finance. This will include using research and analytical skills to produce detailed credit appraisals, providing credit opinions and credit reports, and reviewing quantitative credit risk data for this segment of the Bank’s credit risk portfolio. ? A good understanding of the end to end commodity trade transaction cycle including collateral management and title documents ? Succinct, accurate and well-articulated evaluation of the transaction structure to advise senior management of the conditions of approval or proposing alternative solutions as appropriate. ? Monitor developments within the structured commodity sector, identifying major risk factors and investigating any adverse developments that may affect existing clients / quality of book; bringing these to the attention of Senior Management. ? Contribute to other matters within the Credit department such as assisting with review of credit procedures and being involved with process improvements. ? Effectively liaise with and provide guidance to the Business on all credit risk related matters as it impacts the structured commodity finance portfolio. ? Provide support and training to new entrants to the team Attributes: ? Keen eye for detail with the ability to work effectively under pressure ? Good understanding of regulatory lending requirements including compliance, fundamental credit principles, financial statements and key security and documentation terms and conditions. ? Ability to work as a team and quickly understand the needs of the Business and integrate into a highly driven and professional working environment ? Excellent analytical and research skills with solid experience of using credit risk metrics and various market indicators in assessing counterparty risk ? In-depth knowledge of emerging issues in structured commodity finance. ? Awareness of the macroeconomic and political issues currently influencing the EMEA region with the ability to collate and assimilate information and make strong credit judgments. ? Exposure to structuring commodity finance in Africa will be an added advantage Candidate Requirements: ? Minimum University degree ? A minimum of 7 years credit risk experience gained within an international banking environment. ? A proven ability in Credit Risk identification and control specifically in the area of structured commodity finance, along with a good understanding of Security and Facility documentation. ? Good organisational skills with ability to meet deadlines. ? Exposure to frontier and emerging markets would be an added advantage but not essential. However, a strong interest for these markets must be evident. ?
