Trade Finance - Temp to Perm

Our client, a well-established investment bank are searching for a Trade Finance Officer. The primary responsibility of the role is to handle the processing for London. Initially starting to work from home. Departmental responsibilities: Carry out Trade Finance Compliance and due diligence checks Export Letters of Credit , Advise and Confirm Import Letters of Credit including back to back LCs - Issue IRUs Guarantees and Standby Amendments to Export and Import LCs Issue Notice of Assignments 1st and 2nd check Documents presented under Export and Import LCs Handle discrepancies noted in documents Process Sight and Usance Payments under all products Send Documents on Collection File maintenance Provide support to Trade Finance team All transactions to be in accordance with bank's Trade Finance Procedures, Swift standards and latest ICC Publication (UCP, ISBP, URC, URR,URDG) Primary Responsibilities of Role: INITIATION Follow the Bank’s ICARE values Review instructions received for workability Carry out Trade Finance Compliance and due diligence checks on all LC parties referring to Red flag checklist Initiate LCs (Export /Import / Back to Back) Process Amendments to Export and Import LCs Issue IRUs Notice of Assignments Process Guarantees and Standby LCs Through Trade Finance system, create MT700, 710, 707. 799, 999 as required Investigate and respond to any enquiries received (internal / external) Prepare reports as and when required Close expired / fully utilized LCs and refund any cash cover remaining Create Electronic File at the time of Initiation Fully support, cover absence and assist the Trade Finance Team acting up as required SETTLEMENTS Register Documents received under LCs Scan documents presented and save to electronic file Carry out Compliance and due diligence checks on parties and Vessel 1st or 2nd Check documents as required against LC terms Liaise with presenter regarding any discrepancies Contact issuing Bank requesting authority to pay and/or send documents on approval diarising to chase for authority to pay Review instructions received for workability and liaise with customers regarding requirements if unclear. Handle documents on Collection (inward / Outward) Process Payments under Export/Import LCs, IRU claims, Collection Process Acceptance or Deferred payment under Usance LCs diarising any items for future payments Raise instructions to Loans Agency for LCs being refinanced Close expired / fully utilized LCs and refund of any cash cover remaining Prepare documentation for dispatch by mail and courier Maintain department archive register Maintain Electronic version of file on departmental S drive Investigate and respond to any enquiries received (internal/external) Fully support, cover absence and assist the Trade Finance Team acting up as required Individual Conduct Rules: Rule 1: You must act with integrity. Rule 4: You must pay due regard to the interests of customers and treat them fairly. Rule 5: You must observe proper standards of market conduct. Professional/Academic Qualifications: CSE/O Levels in English and Maths BTEC/ Degree preferable but not essential CDCS Preferable Experience/Knowledge Strong analytical reasoning skills Strong attention to detail Strong Trade Finance technical knowledge understanding and interpretation Technical Skills: Strong Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook skills Interpersonal Skills: An ability to ?think outside the box’ and look for ways to create efficiencies.
