Senior Finance Manager

65000- 80000 plus banking benefits
Our client, a London based Bank, is seeking a Senior Finance Manager to join their team on a temporary basis. The successful Senior Finance Manager will be responsible for delivering high-quality financial reporting, maintaining strong financial control and providing high quality outcomes in relation to technical accounting, statutory reporting, and finance related change. Responsibilities (but not limited to) Financial & Statutory Reporting: Lead the preparation and review of monthly management accounts, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely delivery to senior management. Own the preparation of statutory financial statements under IFRS (including disclosures), coordinating input across the business and ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and Co’s Act requirements. Support with the external audit process, including audit planning, technical position papers, and resolution of audit findings. Ensure accounting treatments are appropriate, defensible, and well-documented, particularly in judgemental or complex areas (e.g. ECL, revenue recognition, provisions, share-based payments where applicable). Financial Control & Governance: Maintain and continuously improve robust financial controls across the balance sheet and P&L, including development of a balance sheet substantiation process, key reconciliations and review processes. Ensure compliance with internal control frameworks, accounting policies, and applicable regulatory expectations for a PRA-regulated firm. Identify and proactively mitigate financial reporting and control risks, escalating issues as appropriate. Senior Stakeholder Interaction & Deputising: Act as a key point of contact for senior stakeholders, including the Head of Finance, CFO, external auditors, and advisers. Provide clear, credible technical advice to non-finance stakeholders, balancing regulatory, accounting, and commercial considerations. Team Leadership & Development: Provide technical guidance, review, and informal leadership to members of the financial reporting team. Act as a mentor and subject-matter expert within finance, supporting capability uplift and knowledge sharing. Contribute to the design and continuous improvement of finance processes, Knowledge/Skills/Experience: Accountancy qualification such as ACA, ACCA or CIMA with at least three years post qualification experience. Strong IFRS technical accounting knowledge, with hands-on statutory reporting experience. Experience working in a Bank’s finance department and implementation of improvements. Monthly reporting and accountancy controls work. Experience of implementing core banking and finance systems would be advantageous.
