Our client, an International Bank, is seeking a paralegal to report to and work with the UK General Counsel and support members of the Legal Department in their day-to-day activities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
a) To assist in drafting and reviewing a wide range of legal documentation, including general banking and derivative documentation.
b) To carry out legal research.
c) To help manage relationships with external third parties, particularly panel law firms.
d) To liaise with other departments of the bank in order to assist the Legal Department in supporting the relevant department.
e) To provide assistance on non-banking matters such as reviewing/negotiating supplier and general services/IT contracts.
f) To carry out such other duties as requested by the General Counsel.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
a) A Legal Practice Course qualification is desirable.
b) Prior in-house secondment in the financial services industry preferred but not necessary.
c) Ability to handle multi-tasks at any one time and to prioritise between tasks.
d) Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
e) Organised and methodical approach to work.
f) High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
g) Ability to work within a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
h) Independent thinker with positive can-do attitude and style with internal clients.
i) Pro-active approach and ability to demonstrate initiative.
j) Proficient in Microsoft Office and document management systems.
SUPERVISION & REPORTING LINES
Reporting to the General Counsel.
Supervision provided by General Counsel. However, the post holder will be expected to work autonomously, where appropriate, following previously agreed procedures or following discussion with or based on specific instruction from the General Counsel.
